Yahoo has announced that there has been a data breach. The breach occurred 2 years ago.
I’m not sure if they just found out about it or if they are just idiots.
The breach affects 500,000 accounts.
Now I know what you’re thinking… “What is a Yahoo?” or “I don’t have a Yahoo account”.
Yahoo is a search engine which stopped providing most of their own search results, I don’t know, 5 or 10 years ago.
But you probably do have a Yahoo account, like with Flickr or Tumblr.
Are you affected? Well, Yahoo isn’t telling us exactly which services are affected. Apparently, it is simply safe to assume that if you use any of Yahoo’s services, you are affected.
Moving forward, update your Yahoo passwords, and don’t use the same password in 2 different places.
