Chatham County’s Northwood High School in Pittsboro is supplying freshmen this year with 2014 MacBook Air laptops. Students are leasing these machines and must take care of them for 4 years and return them.
Repairs:
Students in need of warranty repairs should take these units to the school for repairs. You should contact the school before taking the machine to a third party or even the Apple Store.
Spill damage, cracked screens, hinge cracks, and bad motherboards are all supposed to be covered by the school for a flat rate fee of $100. This is very surprising as many motherboard repairs can be in the $600 – $1,000 range.
The MacBook notebooks will have stickers on them so that the admin can tell if the unit has been tampered with.
We get units in like this from local schools almost daily. Do contact the school first.
If at any time you have a MacBook that needs an expensive repair, please note that we are usually able to beat the price, unless of course, the school is helping you out and providing a $100 repair.
If your machines has been abused and is not covered feel free to reach out to us. We offer free diagnostics and offer Apple Repairs.
We do carry AC adapters and power cords for the MacBook Air and offer them cheaper than Northwood does. If you need a replacement charger give us a call to make sure they are in stock and check pricing.
To all of the freshmen: Have a great next 4 years!
