Gateway Warranty Info
Thursday, February 05, 2009
We'll be following up with a more detailed blog about about the Gateway warranty problem shortly with a Gateway Warranty FAQ.
Right now we're getting in Gateway laptops which should be covered by someone under warranty but are NOT being covered.
One of our good customers, a police department, has several of these laptops. You try to contact Gateway for warranty, and they tell you to call MPC Computers, which is CLOSED. In late 2007, Gateway sold most of it's business to MPC and a few months later MPC went Bankrupt, conveniently leaving tens of thousands of people with NO warranty. Acer bought "Gateway" a few days later and does not have to deal with the warranty problems.
Let the class action lawsuits begin.

if any one knows if there has been a class action lawsuit filed i would be very interested as i own a gateway that is under an extended warranty purchased from gateway professional. i've had some problems with it and i cant even get gateway to talk to me on the phone. all they are telling me is to call MPC corporation, which no longer exists.

* More info coming soon. *
Basically, Gateway "sold" a bunch of its products & warranties to MPC, then the "rest" of Gateway was sold to Acer a few days later. MPC promptly shut down "voiding" everyone's warranty.
