HP DV8000 Laptop Problems Cured.

One of our clients who owns several HP DV8000 laptops recently had a few units in. One of them would not install Windows. His IT staff had informed him that he needed a new motherboard. He called us up and got a uote on the replacement motherboard and dropped the unit off. As it was signed in we mentioned that we would do our free diagnostic and order a motherboard for the machine if needed. Most of our HP motherboards come in brand new; new motherboards for HP laptops such as the DV8000 can be hard to obtain at a reasonable price.

Anyways, for this particular machine we needed to use one of our own hard drives for troubleshooting. Sure enough, the machine would crash during the Windows install. It would ask for a file which was supposedly missing from the install CD. Naturally we attempted a second CD and tested the unit with a new DVD drive. Still no go. Finally we tested the machine out using different memory. Ta da! The unit installed Windows perfectly. Our client’s laptop was cured for under a hundred bucks. He had been expecting to sink $600 into the machine!
