Another Dell Inspiron 1150 problem... Fixed!
Shut down problem, fixed!
Power jack problem, fixed!
Power problem, fixed!
Lately we've been getting in one of these for repair almost daily. The motherboards seem to be plagued with issues. They're a very hot running machine as well, which never helps.
Shut down problems:
- Some Inspiron 1150 laptops shut down when moved. This is caused by loose components on the motherboard. We typically can repair this issue for $149 (more info).
- Some shut down after a certain amount of time. This is due to them overheating. Keeping a can of compressed air around helps a LOT if you clean out the fan area every couple months. Most people do not do this- maybe computer manufacturers should make it a little more clear. When we get in an overheating machine, we take it apart, clean it thoroughly, apply new heat transfer paste, clean out the fans and air passages and button it back up. For this service we typically charge around $90.
Power jack repairs:
Some model Dells (1150, 5150, 600m, etc.) have very special jacks with internal connections, making them a bit complicated to replace. We have developed a solution for this repair which is usually $149. Go here for full details on our Inspiron repair services.
Some 1150 units come in and can't be fixed without replacing parts. Some of them do nothing at all or the power issues have created more problems w/ the board. When this happens we offer repair options, usually around $399 - $499, but always cheaper than Dell's pricing. We also pruchase laptops that customers decide not to invest in.
