HP ZD7000 Power Jack Repair

A HP ZD7000 series laptop came in for repair this week. The unit is around 14mos. old. The power jack pin was broken off. Our customer was happy to hear that we do this repair on a daily basis and that we stock the jack for that laptop.

Our customer said that this had happened once before while the unit was under warranty. HP actually replaced the board and sent it back to the customer, although the repair took around 4 weeks.

Here the backlog of repairs was around 4 days at the time and he is now back up and running again. We were sure to mention that there is nothing we can really do to strengthen the jack- we can only replace it with an identical part. When a 2 pound power brick is hanging from the laptop, it will snap the DC jack in just a blink of an eye... They're fragile by design...

We will have a detailed page explaining our jack repair services shortly, but if you are in need of a power jack repair please navigate over to our site at www.AbsoluteRaleigh.com.

  • If I were to ship a zd7010 to you, how much would it cost for this repair? I'm pretty sure the power jack is the problem. If you push hard on the cord/jack connection you can get juice... but who wants to stand there all day holding a power supply?

  • Hello,

It is currently $149. We repair the ZD7000 here a few times each week. Details on the service are located here:

It will definitely get worse on that model if not properly repaired.

    Thanks!

Wow, this post is back from September, 2005. Since then this has become one of the most common models for this type of repair. We get this model in at least twice every week. We have seen some used until the point the jack area is completely fried, which is NOT good.

While we are in the ZD7000 we clean out the heatsink & fan and apply new thermal transfer paste, which makes it run like new again- many people tell us their ZD7000 is "faster" after getting it repaired here.

  • Okay, sounds great. Now what? Do I just send it in to your address, or do I need a work order generated first? Emailed thru the website but haven't heard back yet.

  • You just send it in with your name, address & phone number and we'll call for a credit card once the repair is complete. We just returned your email as well.

If you don't mind, follow up here once you receive your laptop back.

    Thanks again!
