ThinkPad R32: Broken Power Jack
An IBM ThinkPad R32 came in for repair this week. A decent model, 1.8Ghz, type # 2658J3U.
This one had a broken power jack and was wireless upgradeable. We were able to replace the DC jack. The customer also purchased a miniPCI WiFi card which we installed. Wihle we were inside we took care of the dust build up that was in the fans and on the top and bottom of the system board.
This R32 is ready for action again! It is now a little cooler, quieter and quicker- with the new 802.11b internal wireless installed it is ready for any hotspot. Best of all, with the new power jack installed, this laptop will no longer be shutting off unexpectedly.
