IBM ThinkPad T21 2647-87U

This unit was here becuase when you pressed the power button the hard drive light would blink once and the machine would not turn on.

This is a "common" problem with the T21. Please keep in mind that they are a great machine and rarely have problems although when we get them they are usually broken and this is an issue that we see quite a bit of.

A replacement system board solves this. We stock the boards and they're $99. The unit also had a cracked keyboard bezel (palmrest). The T21 palmrests are in stock and go for $39.

The unit is all set and ready for some more usage again.

Hi - I own an IBM T21 type 2647-5BU. I had exactly the same problem when switching on the machine and was told that one of the sockets was burnt out that holds the memory. Now I'm in Spain at the moment and could have misunderstood (as I'm not a techie nor speak much spanish ...) but your description has made me think again. Do you stock system boards for my machine?

I have a T21 that has a problem with the Wireless card ever since I dropped it.It will only pick up a signal when very close to the modem.I've tried another card, but that didn't help.It may be the card socket that is damaged. Is this a difficult fix and is it worth the repair?Thanks,(gal_50@hotmail.com)

Moggyman: The internal PCMCIA cage may need to be reseated. If that doesn't help the slot on the motherboard may be damaged.
