Dimension 4600

Quite a few desktop PCs came in this week. The latest was a Dimension 4600 that would not turn on. It is getting a new motherboard. While it is here it is being upgraded from 256MB to 768MB of RAM.

It is a fast, P4 2.8Ghz HT machine but Dell sold it w/ only 256MB which was a real bottleneck. The user complained of it running slowly.

We'll have it up to par shortly.

  • What led you to determine a faulty motherboard as opposed to the power supply? Let me know how your repair progresses (I have an identical PC that will not power on). -PCM

  • The power supply turned on fine and being a repair center, we have plenty of replacement power supplies here to test with. =)
