A Compaq Presario 1700T hame in for repair this week.
It was not able to produce sound and was freezing up.
This one came with a 6.4GB hard drive from the factory which was bad.
A new 30GB drive fixed it right up. The sound problem was software related.

Have you ever had a Compaq Presario 1700T that seemed to kill batteries. I thought the ac adapter was bad. Got a new one. That wasn't the problem. Batteries seem to work for a month or two. Then they stop charging.
Is there a way to check to see if it a battery issue or a computer issue?
I've gone through 3 batteries. - At 7:44 AM, AbsoluteRaleigh said...

If you’re buying refurbished batteries- this is normal…
Aftermarket batteries are advertised as lasting a long time but in reality do not work well. I would look for a genuine HP battery.
Please note they can be hard to find and they may not be manufactured any more.
You could check out hp.partsurfer.com for parts to your Compaq laptop.
