Another HP Pavillion ZE1210: Multiple problems
Two ZE1210 laptops for repair in one day. Not a good day for HP Pavilions. This laptop came in with multiple problems.
The owner said the screen went out and the laptop was then attached to a CRT monitor. Then the power jack broke and the power cord had to be held in a certain spot. Later on the laptop started shutting down every ten minutes. It was not a healthy unit. The owner had just had a ThinkPad 600E in here for repair and was very happy with the service and decided to bring this one in to see if it was worth fixing.
After some surgery the laptop is up an running again. The LCD had quit displaying because the inverter failed. The DC jack was replaced with a new one. The shut down problem was heat related- the exhaust vents needed to be cleaned- they had been clogged with clumps of dust and the unit was overheating.
